Surrogate Funding / Programs

Men who have walked the road, walking beside the next ones.

Five programs, one purpose: a young man who sees the trap before he steps in it, and a family that stays whole.

Programs

Five programs, one purpose.

Our first program

The Crossroads mentoring circle

A weekly gathering for young men ages 12 to 25, led by men who have been through it. Straight talk, real stories, and a room where someone expects you to show up.

One to one

A mentor for a year

Every young man is matched with one mentor who checks in every week for at least a year.

Finances

Money and work skills

Budgeting, bank accounts, credit, and help landing a first job or a trade apprenticeship.

Second chances

Community bail fund

Small bonds posted for people held only because they cannot pay. How it works.

Livestream

Loud and Right

Real stories and straight talk for young men, streamed for anyone who needs to hear it.

Our standard

Every mentor passes a background check and completes training. No mentor is ever alone with a minor, and a parent or guardian signs consent before a young man joins.

The Crossroads

Our first program, in thirty seconds.

A weekly circle for young men 12 to 25, a mentor for a year, and the money and work skills that keep a young man out of a cell.

Why a circle works

The model is proven.

Our Crossroads circle follows the same idea as Becoming a Man in Chicago: weekly small-group sessions for young men, led by men who have been there. When the University of Chicago Crime Lab tested it in a randomized trial, the results were clear.
